Series chart for distance intervals without pace

FAQ

When planning runs with distance intervals without a duration or pace value, the series chart is not displayed. This is because the x-axis of the series chart is time-based and a duration or pace is needed to enable the visualisation.

Mathematical background

Pace, duration and distance are interrelated in a triangular relationship. If two of these values are known, the third can be calculated. Without a duration or pace, the series chart cannot be displayed, as the x-axis uses time as its unit.

Solution for distance-based segments

For segments without a pace value, it is recommended to set the distance and estimate the duration. This allows an approximate representation in the series chart, even though the interval will still be executed by distance.

Effort calculation

Additionally, please note that without a duration, the effort for the segment cannot be calculated either. For example: 10 km at 160 bpm says nothing about the effort without a time reference.

Note: The intervals will still be executed by distance if the fixed value of a segment is set to distance, even if the duration is estimated.
